Time has flowen by..............

All of Jan. and a few days of Feb.

I just looked at my last post and saw the date.

Life has been very busy for me in the months since August. I turned a year older, I am married another year, I have been in the top three each month at work as a LMT.  What I haven't done is dye much yarn or knit as much as I want to. I have started one project though that makes me sit down  and knit two rows daily. A weather scarf. My sister of Jenny Pie Productions found the " pattern" on ravelry and go me to join her in this year project. Being only 16 days into February you could start it too and quickly catch up.

She is in the land of PA and I in the land of AZ. She and I both changed the temp. Number grouping a wee bit so she would end up with a lot of blues and greens in the cold months and I with a lot of reds in the summer months. It is neat to see how the weather has changed over the past 1 1/2 months.

This is a great project to have when you don't have a lot of time to knit.

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat 
is inspired by Halloween and my favorite Halloween candy, Candy Corn. This yarn has a sweet colorway of natural white, to yellow to deep orange. 
I used "220 Superwash" 100% Wool by Cascade Yarns, which is a worsted weight yarn.I used Kool-Aid to dye up this batch of yarn. Due to different computer monitors, color variation will occur. I have taken pictures of Trick or Treat in natural light and am confident what you see in the photos is what it looks like in real life. Recommended needles: US 6/5.5 mmRecommended hook: 6.5 mm220 yards/100 grams

Introducing Dyed In The Desert Yarn

Here is the beginning of a new venture in my shop, Wool And Two Sticks called Dyed In The Desert Yarn.

I have been hand dying yarn with Kool Aid for awhile now for personal knitting projects. Others that have seen the yarn have told me I should sell it in my shop.

Ice Cream Social Phat Fiber

I was able to get a fluff box from Phat Fiber this month.  The theme was Ice Cream Social.

I love getting the fluff box for then you can become a creator of your own yarn. You usually get enough samples to blend together to make at least 100 yards of yarn. or save them up and put them together with other same like colors from boxes in the past.

I am going to spin this up in the up coming Tour de Fleece which is hosted by Ravelry yearly. It coincides with the Tour de France. This is when spinners at all levels have an excuse of not doing a darn thing but sitting in front of their wheels and spin and spin in small circles.

Kool Aid for June

This is what I have dyed so far in June. A store had "Full o' Sheep" white on sale so I bought some to try different ways of dying. Captain America has a section with red then when knitted will go to blue and then finally green to rep the "army green" of WWII when Captain America first appeared.

Now for sweet treats. I just made the colors more bold for my sis. She loves all colors and I thought these would work for her. It's strawberry, lime, grape and mango. I like using mango for you can go either way of orange or yellow. I can't wait to see what she creates with it.

These are skeins of yarn I have dyed using kool aid and my heat source is my 1200 watt microwave.

My Sister's Birthday Present

Her birthday is in May and is a fellow fiber artist. I wanted to wait until after her birthday to update my blog so she wouldn't see the yarn before it arrived her to open up.
Her hubby's favorite colors and happen to be colors they used in their wedding is blue and green. I couldn't get the "right" green I saw the yarn should be. Therefore I made a custom color of green and it was prefect! The other one was to represent from her favorite color ways. Pink and Yellow Lemonade. I had to add some food dye to brighten it up when the yellow lemonade failed me. For the people who use kool aid don't bother using the yellow lemonade as the main way of getting bright "Yellow" on your yarn.
She loved them both and I can't wait to see what she knits them up into.
